My pick for turning of the week is Basket Weave by Dion Wisniewski.

This is a stunning piece carved from a form with a pleasing curve.

The carving, texturing, and coloring morph the nature of the piece from near classical to quite rustic.
I particularly like the varied widths of the weaving elements.

Two nitpicks:
I’d like to know the size when a piece is posted in the forum.
When I blow up the picture, I see 5 corners that lack the crisp, clean look of the other 125 corners.

I’m looking forward to seeing the next one of these pieces that Dion carves.

Congrats, Dion. Love the randomness of the carving, the texture, and especially the coloring. Well done! On the fence about the shape of the black rim, or whether it is even needed. Just my 2¢.😇

Great choice Al, tremendous end result Dion!! Your depth of carving and attention to detail indicate a real labor of love!!
