My pick for turning of the week is Basket Weave by Dion Wisniewski.
This is a stunning piece carved from a form with a pleasing curve.
The carving, texturing, and coloring morph the nature of the piece from near classical to quite rustic.
I particularly like the varied widths of the weaving elements.
Two nitpicks:
I’d like to know the size when a piece is posted in the forum.
When I blow up the picture, I see 5 corners that lack the crisp, clean look of the other 125 corners.
I’m looking forward to seeing the next one of these pieces that Dion carves.
