Paul May's "Staircase Study #1" is a great example of thinking outside the box. His use of Walnut segmented pieces carefully placed in the maple to create the illusion of a stairwell the circles around the outside of his vessel is a classic example of an Escher work. Equally important is that Paul's work has a wonderful shape; a soft, gentle curve with no flats on the exterior wall. Great work, Paul! I eagerly look forward to your studies beyond number 1.

I was surprised when I woke up this morning to see this selection for TOTW. Thanks so much Donna! I appreciate the honor and hope to be more inspired on the next one.

Nice choice, Donna. This is a notable piece, Paul, and I’m excited to see where you take the concept. Congrats on the feature—you’re in a roll!

TOTW was not unexpected with this beauty! In an effort not to gush, there is an outstanding uniqueness in Paul’s work that always seems to start with a cutting edge idea. It’s a talent not often seen!! Another clever/ outstanding glue up Paul! I’m glad I have a front row ticket to the show!
