I never thought picking out a TOTW would be so difficult when I signed on for this! There has been so many fabulous embellished turnings posted in the past few weeks, that they make this choice difficult......and those great works of art tend to overshadow the few "pure" turned pieces we see. Alas, I had already "preplanned" my intention to pick something that shows great toolwork and highlights woodturning in its pure form. This one "Kingwood Elegant Box" by Gabriel Hoff has been on my mind, and I've revisited it several times to further strengthen, and understand my subliminal aesthetic impressions when I first laid eyes upon it. I hope others get the same, almost spiritual reactions that I did, and do! Sometimes, all those things that make great art just seem to fall into place, and as we look back, seems like there may have been some spiritual hand laid upon our shoulder while it was being created. :)

Wow Odie! Those are very kind words and praise! Thank you!! It's true, the Lord has lead me through His Will to find woodturning as a use for my hands, and my family has supported me though the journey! I am so grateful for each day I can pick up a tool and make some shavings!

Congratulations, Gabriel. A wonderful box by all measures in what has become a classic box style. A photo of a good form belies its actual size - quite small in this case. That is a positive attribute. Well done, Gabriel!
Great choice, Odie.

Sometimes things are hard to look away from, mission accomplished!! Nice choice Odie, well done Gabriel!! BTW, get back to work; you’re now in the entertainment business!!

Gabriel, Odie’s high praise of your Kingwood Box is well deserved, as is his choice for TOTW. I’m in complete agreement with everything he said. Choosing the TOTW has become challenging over the last several months as the quality and quantity of the images has skyrocketed. And that’s not all bad, just makes us really discern our selections each week. Congratulations!
