Vase/hollow vessel caliper for bottom thickness

I built this a while ago out of necessity in the middle of turning a reasonably sized hollow vessel and was struggling with the bottom. Now normally I would leave the bottom thick to give the piece stability but in this case it was the opposite. As many of my hollow vessels have narrow openings and can be up to 400mm deep, so this is what I came up with and it works very well.
Construction material is stainless and capacity is 400x110mm and thickness 0-45mm
