I was wondering if anyone had any great ideas on how to simply and effectively clean the sight window on the headstock on a Vic 300. Mind is dirty and I can not see the indexing numbers, inside the headstock. I have tried from below and back and it is not a simple procedure. Wondered if there were any great thoughts.

Thanks

Sorry, I don't have this lathe, so don't have an answer for you........but, I'm just wondering what sight window you speak of. Is it that little circular item near the top left of the headstock? What exactly does it let you view?......pulley speed range? Index pin holes?

Edit: If there is no access to the top of your headstock, can I assume the pulley drive is NOT a step pulley?.......but, a single speed pulley?

For those of you who get where I'm going with this.......I'm wondering if I have more power available to me with a 1 1/2 hp VS using a five step pulley (370, 650, 1200, 2000, 2700 rpm) as opposed to a Vicmarc with a single speed range using a 3hp VS motor?????

I run the 3hp VL300 pictured above. It has 4 step pulley set up. Access for the belt move is in the door on the front of the base and in the back of the headstock.

To be honest, I've never used the view window...

what?

otis of cologne, why would you write a post like that? It is plain in his post what the window is for and he didn't ask anything about the power of your lathe... if you were trying to get a rise out of someone i guess you just did. You found a pic of the CS Vic300, look at the specs too and leave the needling to another site please.

Buddy......you read something into my post that wasn't there.

Maybe you should consider trying to think about what I did say, instead of what I didn't.......
