A curly piece of scrap gunstock walnut makes a nice challenge for a salt box for actual use. The top is tight enough to keep the humid air out and it will not spill over by accident.

Great!

I have a few boxes I turned that are in my kitchen. A few of them hold herbs and one loose tea.

Nice indeed. For those not skillful enough or patient enough to sneak up on a squawk fit, consider a groove made with your narrow parting tool and an O-ring from your local hydraulics place.

Very nice box indeed, all thouhg it does vaguley resmemble the collective on a Sea King ..... ;)
I did the O ring trick on LOML's cookied segment jar and it is spot on. she likes it as it can be washed etc if need be.

Actually, Chips, it is modeled after that wonderful H-46 cyclic!
Were you an H-3 driver?
