Someone asked me to turn some bowls from some trees in his yard that need to come down but shipping costs are high. I suggested maybe finding a turner that lives closer to him, hence Chicago. Anyone?

Is it possible they asked you, knowing that shipping of some blanks from some trees for some bowls, would be of some cost? Maybe they just really like your work and want you to make them.
If they do want bowls by the famous professional Alan W perhaps a compromise might be to find a local-to-Chicago area turner to rough turn some bowls to your spec. Shipping those could be far less expensive. For some odd reason there are people who LIKE to rough out green wood bowls. Go figure.
Funny. When I mentioned cost of shipping wet wood, I also suggested a local Turner and he jumped at that. So I’m asking.
I’m a member of all three Chicago metro clubs. I would be glad to ask for them to email blast the info out to the club members. Obviously they are going to need some more details to engage with this individual. Who, where, what and how much come to mind first.
