Sadly, the woodturning community lost Frank Amigo on 17 June.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Elizabeth.

I first met Frank when he called and said. “ I saw your name in the AAW directory and I don’t know you. We just formed a club and our next meeting is on the Eastern Shore. I can pick you up and we can ride together.” That began a 30 year friendship.

Frank was a founder of the Chesapeake Woodturners, served as an AAW board member, and a mentor to hundreds.

One gift from Frank was a mini symposium he organized in Annapolis, MD in 1993. I got to meet David Ellsworth, John Jordan, Stoney Lamar, Palmer Sharpless, and Johannes Michelson.

I miss him.

Sorry about your friend. Getting to this stage of loosing friends fairly often is a real challenge. Something my Mother passed along to me when she got in her late 80's and had lost all her best friends. RIP Frank

Frank was a remarkable man and did a lot of promote woodturning, as Al pointed out. My heart goes out to Elizabeth--they had a full and fascinating life, and shared a love of woodturning as well as so many other things. I've been thinking about you and Sherry, Al--lifelong friends are hard to lose. <3
