Hello all, I am WH.

I started turning in 1973 at a small Teacher College in West Virginia, Graduated in 1976 with an Industrial Technology degree, and started teaching in eastern Ohio the next school year. 8 years teaching in three different districts, laid off three times through "Reduction in Force".

We moved to Kentucky in 1986, I could not find a teaching job, so I started with a Commercial Construction Company as a laborer. I left them after 15 years as a Foreman / Project Manager. I then went to work for The State of Kentucky as a Manager for the Construction Branch. We did repair and renovation projects in the Finance Cabinet owned buildings, including the Capitol.

I retired in 2020 and have been working daily in my wood shop since.

I set up my shop at my present location, in 1989. It is a detached one car garage with enough tools in it to fill a 40' by 80' building. It is rather tight spaced, but I make due. I turned a bit, mostly when a job related project was needed.

Around 2016, I started turning bowls, and I have had a chunk of wood on the lathe since.

I am looking forward to talking to craftsman that know the lathe, exchange ideas and techniques.

The Gallery is superb, the new project ideas it creates!

Thanks for letting me be part of this Board.

WH
