What are these bugs

hey guys,

I got these logs couple of days ago and I just noticed that they are covered with these bugs. I’ve never seen these bugs before, they are fast and can fly

Anyone know what are they?

Ok they are locust borer... never seen the, before, my concern is that they will infest the trees in my backyard.

Could it be a banded ash borer? What's its length? . . . waist size, shoe size? what kind of wood did it have for breakfast?

Yeah I sprayed the wood with perimeter bug spray, looks like it repelled them. I went to Lowe’s and got pesticide that kills them. I found them all over the dead wood.

You don't plan on still turning it do you? I sure wouldn't want to turn through pesticide!

Did not think about that, good point. Right now they are gone with the perimeter spray I applied. My main concern was that they are bad for trees and them infesting the trees in my backyard.

Your local county extension office is a good place to start for bug identification. They generally have extension entomologists who are just waiting for you to send them something bizarre. These guys are actually kinda pretty.
