What Is Going On?

We've been scooped. ;)

More like a lack of communication between board members, web master and others. An hour or two between emails being sent and a notice posted on the AAW is being scooped. Twelve hours is incompetency. No, I don't think there is some vast conspiracy between the BoD and their cronies.

Stewart,

We can always count on you to put a positive spin on things - thanks for the kind words.

No, I don't think there is some vast conspiracy between the BoD and their cronies.

And those BoD "cronies" would be

AAW employees?
Perhaps the people who volunteer their time to keep this entire site up and running just so you can post your insult?

IMV a cheap and unnecessary shot. I thought better of you, Stuart.

cro·ny noun \ˈkrō-nē\
plural cronies
Definition of CRONY
: a close friend especially of long standing : pal

Synonyms: cohort, companion, compatriot, compeer, comrade, associate, fellow, hobnobber, mate, running mate

Wow - I thought I was just a peon, crony is a promotion, do I get a raise with that? :)

Nope, but for a buck you can get a small order of fries.

peon:
Definition: a person held in compulsory servitude to a master
Alternative: a personal receptacle most often too small for its intended purpose.

Here's my take on it, FWIW ... the administration wanted to give the "scoop" to the members, directly. The members, via direct email, were the first to know. :D

There will be a photograph of Cindy accompany the website posting. I believe that Ed was waiting for the photo, which is to arrive today from Cindy.

Do you have email?

Stuart - I received a direct email from the AAW yesterday with the formal notice. I guess because I have a computer and I am a member and I have email and I have given my email address to AAW - and I check my email. I assume you are a member and have a computer so what else is missing?

I don't seem to get emails from AAW... I didn't get this notice.
I did however get the donation solicitation a few weeks ago.

Am I missing something in an email notification setting for my AAW account, or did this ED announcement not get emailed to all the members?

Thanks

@Alan:

I do not think this is a member email account setting issue.

FWIW: Like you, I received the solicitation for donation email and did not receive one regarding the new ED.

Alan, I'm given to understand that the e-mail that went out last night to some AAW members was a mistake in that it was supposed to go out after the posting on the AAW site (which was/is delayed waiting for a digital photo of Ms. Bowden). Somebody hit the "send" button by mistake.

I started to get pissed because, having been alleged to be a "power player" in the AAW over on WTF, I figured I'd be one of the first to get the info. Alas, my mail box has remained devoid of the message. Of course, since I didn't get the solicitation to donate or the Laguna deal or the epoxy thing, I figure I'm just not on everyone's list.:(

Thanks for the feedback... just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something I was supposed to be receiving.

Sorry Mark, I forgot only those messages that agree with you are not cheap shots. No message about the way the new ED was announced or any emails could be called necessary in the overall scheme of things. Like I said I don't feel there was any attempt to make a selective announcement.

Major announcements need to be made on the AAW web site first. Once that announcement is made then send the emails. There was no need for the "scoop" and in my opinion was caused by carelessness regardless of the amount or lack of pay. My opinion cheap or not stands.

It's not your opinion that's cheap, Stuart.

What I learned was that a mass e-mail to all the members was being prepared, but was supposed to be held until after the notice was posted with Ms. Bowden's photograph. Apparently somebody hit the send button by mistake. The old saw "to err is human, but to really screw up you need a computer" holds true in this instance. But such a simple mistake during preparation doesn't make anyone either incompetent or a Board of Directors "crony" with all the pejorative connotations that you people over on WTF attach to that term.

AAW employees and volunteers work long and hard for your benefit. They don't ask for your thanks, but they don't deserve your insults either.

her picture

Well I did get the AAW email and when I got it I Googled her and up came a picture and the info that her paper museum has on her came up to so I was able to research her.

I guess I was on the list because I got the e-mail about Cindy and the solicitation for donation.
