I'm making a trip from Wisconsin to Jeckell Island, Georgia.
What woods can I look for and where I can get some different woods along the way?
Thanks,
McGill

Thanks

I'm leaving on or about the 18th of Sept. Driving down by way of PA and back up through Il.

Thanks for your help.

Ike and Josephine are just tropical storms as of now, here is one place to watch the storms develop.

you may find some nice wood washed up on the beaches after the storms, but watch out for treated timber, not good to turn i have heard.

Dennis, you can look for Black Cherry in Pennsylvania. Willow Oak, Live Oak, and Pecan (in the hickory family) are abundant In GA. Most of what you will see along the Interstate highways in the SE will be pine. And you will see a lot of it!

If you try pecan, save the wood chips, shavings: they are great for giving your grilled meats an added boost. And the cherry chips, shavings will fo the same for poultry.

Enjoy the island.
