What would chip M42 steel?

If it first you don't succeed, maybe skydiving isn't the sport for you. :)

As an ex-Army paratrooper, I'd say that's why we trained ... & carried a spare 'chute.

My younger brother was a jumper but I think he must have landed on his head a couple of times :)

Or so I tell him.

Back when I was riding at a Sacramento Valley area barn (Davis), we were close to a drop-zone for skydivers at a close-by air strip. Will never forget watching a diver descending, with a crowd of his friends and colleagues watching as the picniced, and it became apparent his chute was not opening. Could't decide whether to watch or not. Then at seemingly the last possible moment, he popped what I assume was an emergency chute, hit the ground (hard!) and everyone in the group was whooping and hollering like they were at a football game. I was shaking like a leaf!

Since we're on the topic of off-topic...that reminds me of the saying: "Success is falling down 9 times and getting up 10."

I'm still wondering how you get up more times than you fall down.
