Where can I post a discussion of tools for embellishing woodturnings

I recently created a set of free web-based design utilities to help turners visualize artwork on bowls and vessels before they start cutting wood. I am offering these for free to any chapter or individual member who wants to use them.

I attempted to post a preview in the gallery, but it was rejected because the image was a computer visualization rather than a photograph of a finished piece. (As a side note: It would be very helpful if the forum software sent an automated email when a post is rejected so the author isn't left wondering).

I have been an AAW member since the early 90s, and I believe digital design is a growing part of our craft. Since these are visualization tools, a rendering is the most accurate way to demonstrate them. Where is the appropriate place on this forum to share digital resources and "new ways of seeing" that don't fit the strict rules of the photo gallery?

I want to make sure the community has access to these free resources.

We have several forums - you can see them all here https://www.aawforum.org/community/ They're basically loose headings for things.

If you look at the forum (click on one from the above link) there's often a "pinned" message at the top if there's special "rules" or intent for that forum.

When in doubt, most stuff about turning goes in the "Woodturning Discussion Forum".

For optimal visibility, please start a new thread in the Tutorials & Tips forum and be sure to add relevant tags to make it more searchable. I would strongly recommend that you NOT post in an existing thread, especially one of the marathon threads, such as the "What's on Your Lathe" thread that has more than 6100 posts. After a few days, it would just become lost in a sea of thousands of miscellaneous posts.

Thanks Bill. You have been a big help in the past. Now for a dumb question - is starting a new thread the same as posting something? If there is some documentation, let me know and I'll read it.

top right of forum category (instead of thread view like this) look for button "Post Thread" - usually a different , relatively obvious color...

I thought that meant "post to a thread". Sounds like you are saying it means "post to a new thread?"

Thanks! I'll give it a try.

The only time that you should post to an existing thread is to respond to a previous post in the thread.

You want to start a new thread. At the top of each forum index page is "Thread Title".

Thanks Bill. Chris Fairbanks posted a great explanation of Xenforo and how our forum has implemented it. See the discussion in the Technical Support Forum from this morning.

I just created a new thread in the Tutorials and Tips Forum "What’s in Your Digital Toolbelt? Software for Woodturning Design". Please let me know about the tools and techniques you are using.
I will monitor that thread and answer any questions I can. If I cannot answer maybe somebody else on the thread can jump in and help.
In particular if you are using my design utilities and find any issues or if you have any suggestions on how they could be improved, I'm all ears.

I misunderstood what you wanted to post. I moved this thread to the Woodturning Discussion forum. I will include a link to your other thread in the Tutorials & Tips forum. As Dave Landers said, you can post images in this forum as well as any of the other discussion forums. You may include up to four images per post. If you need to post more images, then just start another post in the same thread.

Thanks.

On a related topic, I appreciate the option to edit posts when I say something wrong or leave out a word, etc. I don't see a way to edit the subject heading. Can headings be edited by the person who posts a thread?
