Where do you mount your hollowing rig?

As I have a custom bowl lathe, so conventual hollowing rigs aren't suitable. So I custom make them and mount mine off the banjo and the current one is about to be redesigned as its very heavy and cumbersome. I have ripped it apart with the grinder and its going to be my winter project. I need a better design for the Huon pine project I have on hand. I haven't seen that many mounted of the banjo, anybody seen one like this?

I haven't seen one, so I'm having trouble picturing it. Is it an articulating arm or captured bar, or somehting totally different?

Trent Bosch's Stabilizer is mounted in the banjo. It's the articulating arm type.

There are several banjo mount articulating systems out there. Trent Bosch’s is the stoutest currently available I think - I remember seeing some heavy duty ones but I think they are out of production.

I have a back rest for the Jamison mounted on a 2x6. It lets me use any short bed lathe.
It needs 2- 3” of bed space. I like using 3” to be able to turn if needed to hollow a wide forms.
Back rests don’t get much pressure they just keep the cutter in line.

Lyle has metal extender that does the same fuction.

Doug I had one of those on my big lathe, I let it go when the big lathe went.

Here is the basic frame , I am just putting the bar set up together as it involves SHS square hollow tube and stainless bar, might actually put up a separate thread

finally done.
The shaft is pressed into to the SHS and is off set turned to keep the bar and SHS on the same plane, the tool post is welded to some 12mm plate to spread the load, web arms are 20x10mm or 3/4x3/8 roughly.
Its capacity is around 12" or 300mm deep which about what I do most of the time and the banjo is very substantial constructed out of 2x1/2 mild steel.
The welding is a bit rough as I no longer do much welding, not mention the passage of time
