Yesterday my wife noticed that a recent blog posting by the gallery where I sell my work featured a walnut piece made by me. I'm a bit chuffed that of all the work in the gallery they chose one of my pieces to feature in that post.
That aside, this post to the forum is about the excellent words written in that blog that encapsulates the role and importance of the handmade and the support of that within a community. This forum is a virtual community, which can also serve that function wherever you practice your making.
It is easy in forums like this to gravitate to the technical and functional aspects of our craft, but it is good to be reminded of the value of what we do for (and receive from) this and the wider supporting community.
