Wood filler for Yellowheart?

Has anyone had any luck matching up a filler to yellow heart? I am not talking about a small crack or the like, I need to shape and sand. Had a problem with chip out on an open segmented vessel. The vessel is complete so cannot replace the segments.

I use Timbermate. To get the right color I have a set of artist acrylic paints that I mix into the Timbermate to get an exact color match. I'm not sure how the texture would match yellowheart, I suppose a lot would depend on the finish your using.

If you match the color exactly right now, it will stand out in a year as the wood oxidizes.

Thanks, never tried that one. Is it easy to work with? What color is it cured if you did not mix in acrylic?

My original finish was going to be spray on lacquer.

I’ve used putty made from titebond original and Yellowheart sanding dust. It’ll sand and finish quite well although exact colour match is tricky. If you’re lucky the difference may just look like natural grain variation

I was thinking of using sawdust with which ever I go with. Does it harden well?

Yup, just leave it overnight. You may have to do a couple of layers depending on how deep you are trying to fill.
