Going to be visiting some friends Oct 7-13. Any woodturning related things/events/suppliers, etc. I need to check out? Any suppliers for burls at reasonable prices?
Not so sure on the burl supply but Pittsford Lumber is always a nice place to poke around for interesting turning materials. this business is in the suburbs of Rochester and its well worth the visit. You may also want to stop in at the local Wood craft store in Henrietta, also suburb of Rochester. The owners and staff are fine folks, they do have a supply of turning materials including burl. Enjoy your stay in NY, get out and see the leaves changing while you're here.
You may be able to visit the site and contact a few members. Ask for the fellow in Naples. It might be Rushville. Either way, he may know where to get burl(s).
