Ordering direct from Vicmarc is much cheaper than from US/Canada retailers even with taxes and custom duties added. Plus the direct thread versions are in stock. Shipping seems to take about two weeks with the added customs delay now.

I just checked and it’s about $350 with taxes, delivery, and tariffs. I can order from craft supplies for $289. Possible I missed something!

Perhaps you didn't change the currency from Australian to US dollars? The one (VM120 no jaws) I just bought was $332 from Craft Supplies and $263 USD including taxes and postage direct from Vicmarc, so about $70 less.

(Facepalm) you’re totally right. I just need to figure out which the right one is. I want to get one with an insert but not sure which is right

Indeed, the 120 would be pretty big on a 12" lathe (and it would eat up a chunk of the 21" length, too! ;-)

I have VM90, 100 & 120 chucks (among others) but I only use the VM120 chucks with the larger 5" diameter jaws and above (up to 8-3/4") for doing much larger and heavier work. The VM120 is a large chunk of heavy metal (just under 4kg) that would be unnecessarily large and heavy on a smaller lathe, IMO.

Also, keep in mind that the jaw sets for the VM90 and VM100 chucks are not compatible.
