7''hx13'' Boxelder burl with dye and lacquer.

Madrone burl with black lacquered maple foot. The lid is slumped glass with a brass finial. Turned from a green blank, this piece took many hours of thinking and planning before it ever saw the lathe. About 18 x 8.

16''x11'' Boxelder burl with dye and lacquer.

White Mulberry. The piece measures 4"x2.5" and is less than 2mm thick down to the bottom 1". It has a mineral oil finish, nothing more. It was a fun one to turn.

Red oak finished with teak oil. 8 in. tall,base 3 in. wide, rim 6 in. wide.

The wood is Red Mallee. The size is 5"w x 8"t. The finish is a light coat of Danish oil then buffed with white diamond followed by carnauba wax.

Vessel stands 15 in's. tall including the finel and is 4 1/2 in's wide. The vessel is turned from Cocobolo and the lid is Ebony. the blank has been sitting in my shop since Kansas City. It was going to be a wedding present but now I think I'll buy them something.

The wood is Red Oak. I used a black patinating wax rubbed into the grain to cause what you see. The next photo shows the rays of the oak which are not affected much by the wax. The open grain of this Red Oak is great for this type of treatment. Later the vessel was buffed with just a cotton...
