Neither species is uncommon in our forests but one has to know where to look in order to find these beauties.
Christine, this is awesome. I don't usually browse through all the postings here, so I totally missed this until you commented on my piece. Hooded warblers do come to Vermont, but very infrequently, so it is a treat when one shows up and all the birders flock to see it. It is unusual to have 2 pieces posted so close together that feature birds, but even more rare with warblers.
