Very interesting treatment Gordon. How did you do the main body? Does it take some hand work to create those alternating upper and lower wings?
 
Both upper and lower wings were turned at the same time; then saw off the wings that I want to eliminate. I think that feature (same as looking at the underside of a bowl) is only turners would notice.
