AAW July 2012 Contest

Winged walnut bowl. Approximately 8" square and little over 3" tall. Lid is turned from the same Walnut blank and the handle on the lid is turned from a walnut scrap and carved.

The bowl also doubles as an oil candle when fitted with a disposable oil candle.
Mike-

Great looking box. Have you thought about using Black Wood for the handle on your box? How about a side shot of your piece?

Mike, the thumbnail did very little for me. But enlarging the photo this became a contender in this contest so I kept coming back to it as I narrowed the field. You have a lot of not easy things to pull off in this box. The flow up from the square to the bead work is a delight to the eye. The bead work going up to the lid, eye candy. The little kind of bow tie as a handle just icing on a great cake. I am giving you second place in this contest.
