Aged platter

Aged Platter
Ancient kauri 520 mm diam 21 inch more a bowl than a platter as it is 70mm deep
Thanks again to Richard Raffan and Terry Baker who put me onto this rust verdigree combination . As usual I am experimenting in a different direction to what I was shown.
This Kauri is what we all look for down under on the yellow side, some Chatoyance and free of blemishes and defects.
I always ask myself after making a piece this large if it would not be better to turn 4 or 5 bowls of smaller size.
As the total income would be far more than this sold on its own and I can produce 5 bowls in the time it takes to make one of these
The rim was carved and textured with a dremel and then the medium applied.
The plastic stand is just for the photo all my work that requires a stand know has a wooden one made .I have come up with a simple design that no longer looks like I got it in the two dollar shop

Terry, I really like the contrast and effect. The interesting look of the grain in the "wave" with the color and aging look of the rust. Nicely done.
