Almond Bowl

This bowl is from a piece of local Almond tree after a whole grove was cut down. It is 9" in diameter and 4" deep and 3/8" thick. It was wet turned to finish, I have found that Almond heart wood does not move too much. It is finished with Chestnut Food Safe oil. It sold before it was finished and is now on its way from Spain to Florida.
I dunno about smell, but that's some pretty wood. It's got a marbled look to it.

Nice bowl Colin.

Thanks for the comments. The wood does have a distinctive smell that is unlike any other wood. The shavings are extremely acidic and my bed bars were black within a few seconds of the wet shavings touching them. I have also had some almond that is very dark brown with the same type of grain pattern.
