Ash Bowl with Eggs

Ash Bowl with Eggs

White Ash, dyed red then black, rubbed with liming wax and finally Beall buffed. Eggs were done the same way. Bowl is 10 inches in diameter.
Hi Tom,I like what you've done with the two colors. What brand of dye did you use?
IMHO, I would have made the eggs lighter, a more natural look, perhasp with black wax. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the comments. I used the pre-mixed Artisan dyes from Craft Supplies. In all cases, I applied the red before the black but by varying the number of applications of red you can get variations in the final effect. You'll notice the interior of the bowl and two of the eggs are more burgandy. Also, I did try black patinating wax directly on the ash but it looked more "dirty" to me than having a nice finish - but there is still more experimentation to be done.
