Ball Joints

Ball Joints

This was an experiment attempting to create ball joints between segments. I ended up pinning the balls with dowels to help with assembly. It was assembled over a turned segmented form. The segments are flat to the surface of the shade and not turned. There are a couple of follow along projects currently running in the SWT chapter forum experimenting with this concept. Walnut, beech, and yellowheart. Glued together with CA. Chestnut stain and lacquer finish. About 8" in diameter. All C&C welcome!
This is an outstanding follow along project over at SWT. Lots of challenges and discussion. The end result means a lot more if you visit the follow along. Well done Steve and great shade for the lamp.
