Black locust hollow form

Black locust hollow form

5 1/2” tall x 8” wide. Hollowed freehand with Hollow-Pro tools.
I love this, Lou! Black locust itself always maes me happy to see, but I also really appreciate that the two voids don't align, and that the edge of the rim is complete. Maybe through luck, or just careful planning (I suspect the latter); regardless, excellent effect!

Thanks Michael! You’re giving me a bit more credit than I deserve. The voids emerged as I cut and luckily I knew not to go to far, but when I began with the blank I had little idea where what only looked like a solid knot on the outside would wind up. I agree, I love the effect as well. The edges of the lower void give the illusion of turning in towards the interior, but in fact they are perfectly flush with the rest of the exterior, entail you hit the opening in the side. I hope I’m explaining that well.

Good to know Lou--thanks for the info! And yeah, that figure illusion is wild--the more you look at it, the more 3D it gets. Cool stuff!
