I had a large, unusually shaped piece of maple burl, so I thought I would go ahead and turn it as if it were solid all the way through: This is the result. 17" x 10" x 3.5". The finish is oil and wax buffed.

Thank you for your comments. I do still have all my fingers, although a couple have bandaids on them.
