I finally got my new lathe last Friday, a jet 1642, and got a chance to break it in by turning another Box Elder Hollow Form.
This one is 7 1/2" tall, 9" wide and about an 1/8" thick throught the whole piece.
There is a large bark pocket almost half way across the bowl so it was a little scarey turning. I taped across the crack to keep it together while hollowing it out.
Finish is 2 coats of thinned BLO, polished with White Diamond and buffed with carnauba wax.
Comment/critques always welcome.
Thanks,
Shane
