Cankered pot

Cankered pot

Cankered Ash, cut at the end of this winter
H 5" X 4 1/2"dia max
thickness at the edge 1/8", in the middle 1/4 and 1/2 at bottom,
just a bit distorted, raw wood.
Comments welcome
Lars,
1/ first turned on two axis
2/ one edge is removed with a router I clamp on the bed (rotation of the piece by hand)
3/ hollowing (classic) on a third axe (central)

4/ the second edge is carved to simulate the overlapping
5/ the bottom dowel is removed and the sanding is done by hand
was greenwood, it's nicely distorted

What a neat process Lionel, fabulous result & it reminds me of a Cornish Pastie with that crimped edge one side. Very different :)
Pete
