Elm bowl with Acorn boxes

Elm bowl with Acorn boxes

The Elm bowl is 3 1/4 inches tall and 6 3/4 inches wide, finished with Danish Oil. The Acorn boxes are approximately 3 inches long: the bottom is 1 1/2 inches to 1 3/4 inches long; the cap is 2 inches wide and 1 5/8 inches long. The boxes are hollowed out, caps are turned with recess to accept the bottom- all are snap fit. The caps have dark brown aniline dye and finished with danish oil along with the bottoms. The boxes are from my cut offs of Elm, Ash, White Oak, Mahogany, Sycamore and others. I used a knurling tool to put texture on the acorn caps.
Nice turning gary, love your acorn boxes, can't say I have seen these before, very nice
Pete
