Figured Bowl

This piece of figured Mongolia is from a crotch it is about 8 inches long and 3 inches tall. Comments and critiques welcome.
Nice figure! I've used a lot of exotic woods in the past and never came across Mongolia ... but that doesn't mean there is no such species. ;) I agree with others - probably magnolia.

Oh there is. Grows all over here in the South and in Memphis especially. Big, very old beautiful trees with huge green leaves and huge white flowers. They grow very slow so a large one is considered a prize to have. I have a few big ones in my front yard. My wife's favorite. When I do get some, it's rare, it makes great pieces.

????? Mongolia? ... or Magnolia?

Oh, sorry... I missed the whole point of the conversation...stinks getting old. Was puzzled by the questions on the wood type but now I know I was the one confused.
