Cherry bowl used for holding a ball of yarn while knitting. Metallic band was used to liven up the appearance. The dimensions are roughly 7.5" round by 5" tall. Finished with a satin polyurethane.
Thanks for the complement. I made the knitting bowl for my daughter, the most difficult part was cutting the line through the side of the bowl. The side of the bowl was close to 1/2 inch thick, this was deliberate because I needed to add weight to the bowl so it wouldn't be pulled off a table when in use.
As for the metallic band, I removed some of the wood, then hammered the finish, applied black gesso, and dabbed on (and smeared) several different metallic airbrush paints.
