Maple burl with Ebony collar

Maple burl with Ebony collar

about 4 in. x 6 in. Maple Burl with an Ebony Collar. About 4 x 6 inches. I saw this block of wood at Woodworker's Source but didn't buy it. I went back the next day and it was still there and it came home with me. I could tell it would have awesome figure. Finished with General Finishes Seal-A-Cell and buffed with the Beall system. All comments welcome.
This is a real pretty piece of wood Paul. Someone will be real happy when they put it on their display shelf. Nice shape too!

wow! ... beautiful job -- amazing grain. were you aware of the grain before developing the form?

Thanks for the comments.

-e- I could see the grain pattern through the wax coating. The hard part was to decide which end would be top.
