Milo calabash form for Irsh Mike

Mike, This is the more traditional form of the hawaiian Calabash. The hawaiians made them totally round on the bottom so they could "work" them into sand or soil for stability but we usually put in a small recess flat about the size of a quater so they don't fall off the shelf. Note it looks like the top half of a gourd has been cut off. The ordinary hawaiians used the actual gourds for their everyday and the wooden bowls were reserved for Alii (royalty) and were considered to be the crown jewelry.
very nice

I just went out and planted a Calabash tree. Beautiful!
