Mushroom box

Mushroom box

This is box is to be used as a prayer box. I was asked to design and turn a box that was roughly 8" tall and that a person could get their hand into. The mushroom shape held a special meaning to the person receiving the box. The base has a slight fiddleback grain, and the lid has some really cool burl from the same tree.
Vern-

Beautiful piece of wood and great job of turning. What kind of wood and finish? Does the lid screw on or press on?

Gary

The press on lid has a small bead on the underside for alignment. It was green turned to finish because they were in a hurry. Microwaved and then lacquered. Start for finish in 6 days. The wood is Big Leaf Maple.
