Natural Surface Goblet

Goblet with the burl surface on the exterior of the bowl (and top of the foot). Big Leaf Maple, about 6-1/4" tall (bowl is 3-1/4" diameter). Stem is hard maple dyed with India ink. Finish is spray lacquer.

This is wonderful Dave. i will definitely be trying this type of goblet. Thanks for the inspiration!
 
This is really cool Dave! How do you get the burl caps to be so smooth? Sand somehow, or just finish as they are?
I do what I can to remove any bark - brass brush, toothbrush, dental tools, etc. The surface under the bark is naturally smooth (at least the burls I've worked with).
 
Oh, right on! That’s good to know. I have a couple of different burls that are in line for something. Just exploring the possibilities. Cheers!
