9"x5". Soaked in oil mix then finished with wipe on poly. As always all comments and critiques welcome.

Nice piece Gary. I love the way it looks like it's on fire.
 
I really like the color of this piece. I have never worked with NIP. Another turner told me recently that this wood has to sit outside for some time (6 months or more) before the color develops. Could you provide some info about how you handle this wood. Are there any tricks to speed up this process? I'm from the Chicago area. Does climate have anything to do with the time required? How can you tell when the piece is ready? Can you tell just by looking at the end of the log section?
