Oak Burl Vessel

Oak Burl Vessel

This piece of white Oak Burl was a real challenge to work with. The blank was nearly bone dry and shaping and hollowing it was like cutting concrete.

After breaking some tools and getting some cuts and bruises the wood surrendered and I am happy with the results.

Three colors were individually applied, sanded back and blended.

Finish: lightly Sandblasted, stained & gloss finish.

Dims: 11 H x 8 Dia.

Andy, you've turned a niche for yourself in the hollowform arena. Thanks to your efforts many turners now look more kindly at the oaks. Very well done piece.
