"Poseidon's Platter"

"Poseidon's Platter"

"Poseidon's Platter"
This partly segmented piece finished at 14 1/2" D X 4" tall and the finish is lacquer. The center of the platter is White Oak, the Scalloped edge is segmented Walnut, the hand carved Dolphins are also Walnut. The Walnut base was first turned then cut and hand carved to its shape, plus I added three hand carved Walnut Sea Horses.
That would have been an impressive turning without the sea horses. With them it's spectacular!

I hadn't seen the platter yet, so I came back to add, "Wow!"

Thank you Rick, when making this piece I did not like the platter just sitting on the table, by lifting it with the base you can see the wave action making the dolphins look as if they were jumping out of the waves and the base is three breaking waves as well.
