Shell Fragment

Shell Fragment

10H x 5W x 7D. Bleached maple, turned, carved, textured, pierced. Stand is cherry, carved and wire brushed, painted with black gesso and burnished. This is the first in a new series based on my beachcombing findings. The shell fragment inspiration is of a very worn sea scallop piece that I came across while beachcombing Matanzas Inlet, below Saint Augustine, Fl, awhile back. I find these heavily worn pieces to be very inspiring, and am having fun with exploring where this will take me. This is the second stand I made for this piece, and I feel it displays the piece much better.

C&Cs, and possible names for this piece, are most welcome.
