Sierra Crest

Sierra Crest reminds me of a cirque I climbed in the High Sierras at 13,000 feet where I had some of the most incredible views of my life.

Sierra Crest was turned from a burl that my friend retrieved from a burned area adjacent to a Los Angeles freeway, where millions of cars inch by day after day. We think it's Pacific Madrone but many sources indicate that it may not grow this far south. It looks like what I would imagine Pink Ivory burl to look like. A bit of the charred wood was retained in the process. The finish is my custom Super Blonde spirit varnish.

Don, this wood turned like butter, a characteristic of both Madrone and Pink Ivory which led me to imagine . . . . what grows in my neck of the woods?
