The wood is spectacular, but the base really takes away from the overall form. It is way too large. The vase is beautiful. Perhaps you can remove the base? If so, the base could be flipped and made into a nice ogee shaped bowl.
 
Thank you so much for the constructive comments. I thrive on this kind of information. I am self taught and lack a good eye for shape. It was supposed to be natural edge top and bottom and completly differnt shape. After that failed I guess it was just hard to get rid of the idea. Forturnatly I have quite a bit more of this stuff.
