Maple, Stainless Steel, Lead. 8" x 14" overall. All wood parts are turned.The horizontal spindle rotates 360 degrees and moves vertically. The birds on the horizontal spindle rotate and rock back and forth.
Thank you Betty. This was one of the most difficult ones so far although from its appearance you might not realize it. To get the figures to balance the wire arm that connects the bodies to the weights needs to end under the dead center below. The arm also needs to be rigid. If it is not it creates to much torque at the opposite end and it will not balance. I was lucky that since this did not require a lot of weight for the counterbalance the wire does remain relatively rigid. I have tried this same approach on some larger items but I have not been able to get it to work satisfactorily. In order to keep the arm rigid I have to increase the size to the point it is not proportionate to the rest of the piece. I am working on some options.
