Vintage Woods
This is from a piece of spalted beech, has number of cracks I didn't know the extent.
I did try to turn "something" as big as possible in the bit I had available.
In order to strenghten the cracks, I glued butterflies made out gorse that I had cut a long time ago somewhere on shore

the Mediterranean Sea. The collar is a ring of coconut

The edge came "as it came" I wanted to respect his deformity and I was lucky not to have broken
11" long x 8 1/4 wide x 4 1/2 high , danish oil
Comments welcome
Lionel, you are getting W-I-L-D!! the top unit could stand alone & is totally interesting..with the triangle points meeting in the center, this piece on the mirror fascinates. Terrific!

I see in your gallery that you too suffer from "visions in the mind" disease......love your work!

Hi All,
Thanks for the kindly comments

Hi Gary,
Difficult to explain...in fact, the wood I did use is "Gent" in french. There are multiple sort of gent, the translation I've found is for a species "ajonc" not just the same
http://www.brickfieldspark.org/data/gorse.htm

Mine is a shrub with little little leaves in springtime, then the yellow flowers, then they leave the leaves and in summertime there remains only the thorns and seedpods.
Have a look at:

mine is the third: Genista scorpius

enjoy with the thorns :)

I love this piece, Lionel. It's also got the nicest looking legs I've seen in a long time. ;-)
