Waves of Grain

Waves of Grain

Russian Olive, Copper leaf patina.
7.25 dia x 6.75 high inches.

Turned to 1/8th inch wall at top, taper to 1/4th at bottom for stability. Blank was dry. Sanded inside and out to 400 grit. Then I used sanding mops (80 to 320 grit), following the grain to sand away the softer grain as a texture.

Finished with spray Spar varnish, 5-7 coats, left full gloss and Beale buffed. Copper leafed interior patina is Triangle coatings Sophisticated Finishes (blue).

Firsts:
First photo posted here.
First gloss finish on anything but a pen.
First spray finish.
First textured finish.

Thanks for viewing. Please leave your cheers and jeers, I value them both.
