Winged Maple Burl
George Van Beynen

Winged Maple Burl

This is the first winged bowl, 13x12x3, I have turned. I finished it a little while ago as practice for a larger blank that was roughed and sold to a customer to be completed soon. As long as this was a practice item I thought I would try three feet rather than a foot or recess.
The burl was well spalted, almost rotten, but still usable with a little help from lacquer and sharp tools. It was a fun project! Finished with oil/varnish. Comments Welcome.
