This is some Persimmon that was salvaged from storm damage over a year ago. It was a large, old tree that had been doing battle with worms for a long time. That's why it gave up the ghost during the storm winds.

This is a Maple Burl Hollow Form that had a natural void. I turned and decorated a Christmas Tree and placed inside. Vessel is 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" Tree is 3" tall. The inside is dyed black and the tree has sparkle glitter on it . If you look closely you can see stars in the...
Measures 4-3/4" diameter x 3-1/2" tall. Dyed red with the rim left natural and dimpled with Dremal. Finished with wipe on gel poly and beall buffed.
Both the form and the base are Sweet Gum. The form is 4.25" dia x 5.75" tall and has a round bottom. The base is about 6.5" square. The piece was turned, carved and scorched. It's finished with Danish oil and buffed with carnauba wax. The inside is painted gold.

A finialed hollow form in Chesnut Oak and Madagascar Ebony. The HF was turned (but not hollowed) during a demonstration that I did during a basic woodturning course that I taught last month at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. It was used as a prototype for a second piece.

The wood is Tasmanian Eucalyptus. The size of this piece is 5.5" dia x 9" tall. The finish is Danish oil and hand rubbed with fricton polish.
Wood is Black Walnut. The size is 3.75" dia x 7.5" tall. Finish is Danish oil and buffed with white diamond followed by carnauba wax. The Opening in the neck is 11/16" and the form is very well balanced.
